For the last decade, ill-esha has been an integral part of the North American electronic scene. Beginning as a vocalist, she soon added MCing and DJing to her repertoire, creating a dynamic and unique live show which has headlined alongside artists such as Andy C, Klute, Dieselboy, Vibesquad, LTJ Bukem, Tipper, T-Power & De La Soul. She has performed across North America, Europe and Asia; in clubs, at festivals, and even on TV s...hows on MTV Canada and the CBC.

In 2001 her first 12” single was released on New York label Breakbeat Science; since then ill-esha has worked steadily as a vocalist and producer on labels like BluSaphir, Haunted Audio, Woofer Cookers & Muti Music; hitting #1 singles download on Juno and #3 in the Beatport Electronic Charts. Her current album on Daly City, "Circadian Rhythms" currently sits at #3 on the Addictech Monthly Downloads and has been blogged on MTV's website. Coming soon are digital EPs on Haunted Audio and Street Ritual, and 12" releases on European labels Dub Police and Subway. ill-esha is currently writing new tunes and remixing everyone, including your mom, in San Francisco, CA.

4 THE LOVE OF THE MUSIC is the work of the new minted "Really Good Ideas" media firm.
We have moved the promotions department of Music First out of house and are taking on
new clients. If you are a promoter, musician, venue owner, small business owner you may
want to buy ad space. You will be featured in street zine as well as the blog. We have
been hitting the streets with our flyers and getting a response to our shows. We are
going to stop printing flyers for the most part and buy into the zine ourselves. Meaning
that our street team which is already out there rocking the town, can promote your shows
or your music and other amazing small business owners here in Winnipeg.
While at the same time providing great content from key figures in music.
We will be rolling out slowly and building up to our first issue in early March.

Chris Elliott, aka Nom De Strip, is gaining a reputation as one of the freshest artists around. Previously known as half of Stupid Fresh, the collaboration behind the massive Get The Fuck Up and with whom he toured all around the globe, Chris is now enjoying a successful start to his solo Nom De Strip project. With tracks featured regularly on BBC Radio 1 and supported by a DJ roster including Fatboy Slim, David Guetta, Fedde Le Grand, MSTRKRFT, Judge Jules and Laidback Luke, Nom De Strip’s early releases have include high profile remixes for Dizzee Rascal and Dave Spoon.

Now the momentum is increasing, with eagerly awaited EPs over a range of styles scheduled for Southern Fried, MoS Australia, Trouble & Bass (collaboration with Bart B More), Sneakerz, and Surfer Rosa, and remixes for MoS Australia, Fool’s Gold and U&A Recordings. Not only as a producer, but also as a DJ Nom De Strip continues to explore different subgenres of house. So far this year crowds in Australia, Canada, Italy, Portugal and the UK have enjoyed his unique sets, always loaded with Nom De Strip exclusives.

Let’s clear something up. Technically Mat is not an Alien. He grew up not too far from Manchester (u.k.) and moved to Canada in the mid 90’s to follow his snowboarding addiction which he stumbled upon during a trip to Austria. He has been dj’ing since 1988 and was inspired to play the drums by local bands such as (The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays) after being introduced to the d.j. culture of the acid house warehouse party’s he was hooked on blending beat’s on the turntables. He further developed his style while working in his family’s record store(opened by his dad at age 4. Mats music selection appeals to a wide variety of crowds, spanning many genres from Hip-Hop,Glitch Hop,Dubstep,funk,dance-hall,breakbeats,electro,drum & bass,rock, and more. He learned this from dj’ing in Whistler to varied crowds of people visiting from all over the world.His style has been described by Knowledge Magazine as, “Awe inspiring & Some next level shit.”

Mat has toured across the globe to some of the following places:
Moscow,London(Fabric),Austria,Germany,Sweden,Iceland,Italy,Korea,Philippines,Mexico,Guatemala, as well as all over the U.S. and Canada at events of up to 8,000 people,he has held down residencies at club nights in Whistler, Vancouver and Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay. He has also performed alongside most of his favorite acts.
With crates as deep as a black hole he has combined world class mixing and scratching skills and is considered “Really Good” by anyone who sees him.
Mat was chosen to represent Canada at the Canada House during the 2006 Winter Olympics and djd at events for the 2010 games in whistler. He has produced many mix c.d.’s, and been busy making music and scratching on music that has appeared on T.V. show’s such as : m.t.v. News,Disband,Anna Nicole Smith a&e biography,Danny Bonaduce reality t.v. show,the theme tune to the ride guide mountain bike show and also did all the scratching on the video game N.B.A. Street Home court for E.A.sports.
Mix c.d. highlights are the 2002 C1RCA Presents Knowledge Magazine Mix CD, which showcased his ability to blend several styles of music seamlessly. Over 80,000 copies of the CD were distributed worldwide, to critical and popular acclaim. The follow up was C1RCA Presents C1pher 2004 which also featured DJ Dopey, the 2003 World DMC Champion and another collaboration c.d. with u.k. beat-boxer Killa Kela.
Mats cuts can be heard on 6 tracks on the new album from Fort Knox Five - Radio Free D.C. as well as 2 tracks on the latest Sweatshop Union album and his remixes have been played by(Bassnectar,ill gates,A skillz,Nick thayer,Fort Knox Five, Z-Trip ,Nu-Mark) and he has a re edit on Krafty Kuts latest mix cd.
On another note Mat has also changed the way people play 7” records with “Mat’sMat’s,” slipmat’s for 45’s allowing Dj’s to scratch and cue 45 rpm records the same as they would a 12-inch, there is also Boca 45 (dynamo productions ) ltd edition run of Mat’sMat’s
At shows mat is know for pristine - quick mixing of many genres (usually driven by heavy bass-lines) and scratching techniques that really does sound like it came from another world.
Did Mat really get abducted by aliens ???? We’ll never know but one thing is certain- Mat the Alien is capable of some out of this world d.j. sets......................

This year was Emotionz 11th in a row performing at the world famous "Shambhala Music Festival" where his beatboxes and spoken word pieces have become an annual tradition. Releasing video's in the last year for "Graffiti Mentality", "Dear Go...d" and "Wildstyle" has also accumulated over 100 000 hits on youtube and a solid international buzz. Through out the years he's recorded music with DJ Quik, Souls of Mischief, Mat the Alien, Project Blowed and more. Mark Instinct was always into the sounds of electronic music, but it wasn’t until his introduction to drum and bass, at the age of seventeen, that he decided it was time to add his own mark on music. With impeccable taste and skill, early bookings with Hive, Pendulum, Noisia and Tech Itch started to gain him recognition in bass circles around Western Canada.

At the age of 20 years old, when Mark Instinct started experimenting with music production, he finally found his niche. Beginning with drum and bass, and dabbling in other genres, such as house, it was the grimy stripped down sounds of dubstep that ultimately caught his attention. Creating dark nasty beats, synonymous with the Western Canadian sound, Mark Instinct soon began to chisel out his own distinctive style imprinted on such releases as “Sketchy Maxx” and “Fword”.
Attention from record labels ‘Rottun’ and ‘Aufect’ recordings lead to the release of “Invader” and “Badman Sound” in 2009; tracks which were soon found on the top-ten of many international DJs playlists. Additionally, a split EP contribution on Betamorph Recordings “The Humunaoid EP” and Aufect Digital "Love me Nots" releases were featured in the top ten charts of Juno, Chemical Records, & Digital Tunes.

Achievements made in 2010 followed the same upward trajectory with the release of the “15 Karat EP” on ‘Dubline Audio’, and a remix for DJ SS’ prolific ‘Formation Records’. This was then followed by the release of “Detonate” signed on Reid Speed’s ‘Play Me’ records, charting at number two on Beatport’s top 100 and remaining a chart fixture for several weeks. The end of 2010 will have Mark Instinct embarking on his first major US tour, bringing a full arsenal of tunes including his newest musical collaborations with MC Messinian of ‘Planet of the Drums’, BARE, and dubs from the highly anticipated second EP release on Rottun Records ‘Destroyed’.

Ascending the steep slope of music with ease, this 24 year old is proving that the future will be no different, with forth-comings on 'Dieselboys' "Subhuman Recordings" and collaborative projects with 'BARE' and 'Helicopter Showdown' it comes as no surprise that Mark Instinct will continue pushing musical boundaries. With tight mixing skills that have been instilled from drum and bass, melody lines of genuine electronic musicality, and the dirty sub and mid range bass that could only be contained by dubstep, Mark Instinct is this decades artist to watch.
